January 2013 Board Meeting

The Friends Board met on January 7, 2013. The first order of business was to elect new officers. Congratulations to:

Publicity & Newsletter Editor & Webmaster - Bessie Louie
Book Sale & Volunteer Coordinator - Nonie Veccia

Board Member at Large - Ileah Crawford

The board discussed the need to recruit new members to run for office and to continue the 25+ years of fundraising for the Milpitas Library. FOML is looking for dedicated people who are passionate about our library and community. If you are interested, please contact the Milpitas community librarian or attend out next board meeting on May 13th at 7:00 P.M. in the meeting room

The Board reviewed duties and volunteer schedule for the upcoming book sale on Janauary 25th, 26th and 27th.

Linda Arbaugh, community librarian, presented the Milpitas Library's 2013 Wish List. After discussion and review, the Friends Board unanimously approved the $40,125 wish list.
$29,000 was earmarked for programs, $2,600 for special purchases, $5,275 for miscellaneous projects and supplies, and $3,250 for donations.
This money is made available entirely through the tireless efforts of volunteers.
The Friends of the Milpitas Library would like to thank everyone for their time and hard work.

September Board Meeting

The Friends Board met on September 10, 2012. Students from Milpitas High School Model United Nations presented a proposal to raise funds for the Friends by holding a one week book sale at the high school during lunch. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Friends for programs. The Board approved their proposal.

Bylaws were revised and adopted. Adopted Bylaws.

The next Friends book sale is scheduled for September 28th, 29th, and 30th. Logistics and volunteer work schedule were discussed and duties were assigned.

Book Sale dates for 2013 were approved. The Friends will be holding three Book Sales: January 25-27, June 7-9, and September 27-29, 2013.

The revised Bylaws added two new Board Member at Large positions. The Friends nominated and voted to welcome Rosemary Joy and Ileah Crawford on the Board. Congratulations Rosemary and Ileah.

The next Friends Board meeting will be held January 7, 2013 at 7:00 P.M.

June 2012 Book Sale

The Friends of the Milpitas Library had a successful June book sale. We raised over $6,450 from the three-day sale. A HUGE thank you to the volunteers and patrons who participated. Mark your calendar for the upcoming September book sale on the 28th, 29th and 30th.

Proposed Amendments to the Bylaws

The FOML Board is proposing revisions and changes to the Bylaws. They include two new positions to the Board of Directors. The proposed admendments are posted on the website to notify the general membership.

Action to approve proposed amendments will be taken at the next scheduled Friends board meeting on September 10th.

2012 Friends Board

At the Friends board meeting on May 14th, 2012, elections were held to fill the vacant Treasurer's position. The Board elected Maria Scoles to the position.
The Board discussed and proposed amendments to the bylaws. Proposed changes to the bylaws will be posted on the webpage soon.

The June book sale is coming soon. Mark your calendar for June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Successful January 2012 Book Sale

The Friends of the Milpitas Library would like to thank the many volunteers who helped with the January book sale. Many of you sorted books, set up tables and worked the 3-day sale.
The Friends raised $7,915 to continue sponsoring library programs for 2012.
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS. You are the BEST!

Library's 2012 Wish List

On January 12th, 2012, Linda Arbaugh, community librarian, presented the Milpitas Library's 2012 Wish List. After discussion, the Friends Board unanimously approved the $51,225 wish list.
$27,000 was earmarked for programs, $12,300 for special purchases, $8225 for miscellaneous projects and supplies, and $3,000 for donations.
This money is made available entirely through the efforts of volunteers.
The Friends of the Milpitas Library would like to thank all volunteers for their time and hard work.
