Programs Supported by the Friends
The Library has had some wonderful programs in the month of October, made possible by generous support from the Friends.
There was the poetry slam that attracted a rollicking crowd of 50 teens and pre-teens.
The Flying Calamari Brothers put on a special Halloween magic show for the kids at family story time. They did a fantastic job of entertaining kids of all ages and their parents too.
Khaled Hosseini was the guest speaker at a Wednesday book discussion group. Khaled is the author of The Kite Runner. The event attracted a crowd of 46 people.

FOML General Meeting
The next general meeting of the Friends will be on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:00 PM at the Library. All members of the Friends are invited to attend.
Monday Library Hours
The Milpitas High School Library is opened every Monday from 4 to 9 P.M. due to the Milpitas Community Library closing every Monday.
The City of Milpitas and the Milpitas Unified School District have made the new Milpitas High School Library available as an alternative study location for students on Mondays. The general public and Rancho and Russell Middle School students are also welcome to use the high school library - however, book-borrowing privileges will not be available. Milpitas High School can be reached via bus line nos. 46 and 47 from Rancho Middle School.
FOML Board Members Leaving
The Friends of the Milpitas Library will be losing several key players on the board of directors. Maria Scoles, longtime treasurer, will be pursuing other adventures. We will miss her greatly and we would like to thank her for all the long hours and hard work she has given to the Friends. Marilyn Hay, secretary of several years, will also be moving on to new projects. Her continued support in book sorting and assistance with the semi-annual book sales are most appreciated.
If you are interested in becoming a key player for the Friends of the Library, please attend our next general meeting on January 19th at 7:00P.M. in the library. We look forward to working with you.
