Changes in 2006
2006 will see several changes for the Friends. The most important change is that there will now be three book sales per year in order to help move along the amount of books that are donated. The new book sale schedule is tentatively set as the last weekend of January, the first weekend of June and the last weekend of September.
In addition, we are raising our prices to $1.50 per inch of books. Sunday's Bag Days will remain at $5 a bag of book. We are also raising the membership fee of Patron to $30 and of Life to $300. Individual and Family memberships will remain at $5 and $10 respectively.

October Book Sale: Thank Yous
The October Book Sale netted over $6,600 for the Milpitas Community Library. This money is made available entirely through the efforts of volunteers. We are grateful to the following individuals who volunteered their time during this book sale:

Changes in 2006
Money that you spend at book sales goes back into the library. Programs the Friends has helped fund over the past year:
- Adult Programming (Author programs, book discussion groups, speakers): ~$5,500
- Young Adult Programming (Movie programs, summer reading club, poetry slams): ~$2,000
- Children's Programming (Summer reading club, guest performers at story times, craft programs): ~$15,000
- Library Supplies (lights, kick stools, color printer/software, CD repair machine, etc.): ~$5,800
- Children's Area Mural: ~$1,500
